Z9 was a R5-series astromech droid owned by Wilhuff Tarkin.

History

Z9 was present aboard the space station housing the Republic strategy conference when a hijacked Venator-class Star Destroyer rigged with rhydonium was speeding towards them. When the Venator did not slow down, Z9 attempted to make contact with the captain of that ship but could not. Z9 later witnessed, along with the rest of the crew on board, the destruction of the cruiser.
