"Sparks" was the nickname given to an R5 astromech droid belonging to Gold Squadron pilot Dex Tiree. It was named after a saying Dex's mother said often, "Small sparks light big fires." Sparks and Dex perished in the Battle of Yavin, 0 BBY.
