R5-A2 was an abandoned astromech droid who roamed the streets of Mos Eisley on Tatooine.
Behind the scenes
The 1998 Star Wars Encyclopedia includes a picture of R5-A2 with an erroneous image caption misidentifying it as the droid R5-M2. Unlike R5-M2, R5-A2 does not have an individual subject entry within the Star Wars Encyclopedia.
In 2009, Hasbro created a Build-A-Droid action figure of R5-A2, which was added to the Legacy Collection A New Hope wave. The parts to make R5-A2 come with: Luke Skywalker (Stormtrooper Disguise), Han Solo (Stormtrooper Disguise), Spacetrooper, and Jawa.
