R2-J8 was an R2-series astromech droid that served Shadow Squadron. In 22 BBY, he took part in the Battle of the Kaliida Nebula as Contrail's astromech droid, though he was damaged before the official battle when his dome was cut off by a Neebray manta in the Balmorra Run.
