Shiner was an R2-series astromech droid assigned to New Republic pilot Myn Donos. Shiner served with Donos in Talon Squadron until the unit's destruction at Gravan Seven, and then went with him to the newly formed Wraith Squadron. Donos viewed him as the last surviving member of Talon Squadron, whose destruction he felt responsible for. Shiner was destroyed during the Wraiths' battle with the Blood Nest pirates, which nearly sent Donos into severe depression.
