Article I: Name

The name of this organization shall be the DroidBuilders.

Article II: Mission, Vision, and Values

The purpose of this organization shall be to:

Our Mission

Promote, the charitable works of its members in providing resources, opportunities, and events to work with community and charity groups through the creation, display, and operation of replica droids.

Our Vision

We strive to promote a sense of camaraderie amongst our members and to continue to improve the quality of Star Wars droids for all its members to that of movie grade providing high quality reference standards, and to promote goodwill worldwide through charitable works and volunteerism.

Our Values

DroidBuilders values each member regardless of sex, race, religion, creed, nationality, sexual orientation, age, or physical handicap. We value the passion and attention to detail builders put into their droids and we value the charitable goals set down by Lucasfilm Ltd. by giving what we can back to the community.

Article III: Intellectual Property

DroidBuilders recognizes that the members have no claim to the copyright and intellectual property of Lucasfilm Ltd. (LFL) except by the privileges authorized to the organization by LFL. Members acknowledge and accept that they, by authorization, portray the droids of STAR WARS™ when acting on behalf of the DroidBuilders. While representing the DroidBuilders, members agree to do so courteously, professionally, and responsibly at all times.

Article IV: Membership

DroidBuilders is an inclusive, equal-opportunity club. DroidBuilders will not discriminate members on the basis of sex, race, religion, creed, nationality, sexual orientation, age , or physical handicap. DroidBuilders will not tolerate any type of discrimination amongst its members. Membership is a privilege, not a right.

Requirements to Become a Member

In order to become a full member of the DroidBuilders, an applicant must own at least one professional grade Star Wars™ droid as elaborated in the following requirements: The applicant must own a DroidBuilders approved, professional grade Star Wars droid. Droids approved by the DroidBuilders include, but is not limited to, droids seen in films by Lucasfilm Ltd., Disney, comics, books, games, television shows or other source material licensed from LFL and/or Disney based on Star Wars™. Droids must be owned by the applicant and may not be rented, borrowed, or shared. Droid must be in a visually completed state and meet all of the requirements as set forth by the DRL’s. The applicant must submit an adequate number of photos showing all aspects and components of their droid.

Expectations as a Member

Upon admission, new members will be assigned a unique registry number and droid identification plaque. The registry number is unique to the individual droid and is non-transferrable.

  • Members are expected to comply with all respective applicable local, regional, and national laws.
  • Members agree to use and operate their droids in accordance with the requirements set forth by the DroidBuilders as well as any specific rules or limitations required by an event.
  • The final right to grant, deny, revoke, or suspend membership at any time, is reserved by and under the sole authority of the Executive Direx Board or its representatives and may not be superseded by any Sector, Region or Zone.
  • All members must meet the minimum activity requirements. Once membership is granted, all members must meet the criteria as defined it the operation guidelines in order to retain full member privileges and be considered of an active status.

Article V: Organization

DroidBuilders is a worldwide club administered by the Executive Directorship Board (or Direx Board) consisting of the Executive Officer (ExO), President (Prex), and Auditor General, as well as a non-voting “Imperial Advisor”. DroidBuilders is divided into smaller organizational units to foster local identity and to encourage teamwork and fraternity. Organizational units shall not create rules or policies that are in direct contradiction to, or supersede the Charter or Corporate Standards (CorpStan).

The Executive Direx Board establishes the overall policy and sets the goals on a global level, approves the annual budgets and is the highest ruling body of the organization.. Policy decisions and specifics of programs can only be ratified by a two-thirds majority. The ExO presides over the Direx Board.

The VicePrex Council is made up of the voting members of the Executive Direx Board and representatives from each Territory and Region. The VicePrex Council is moderated by the Prex and is responsible for developing and executing the policies of the Executive Direx Board.

Members may bring issues, concerns, or requests before the VicePrex Council through their representatives, or, in cases where issues are with their representative, though any other member of the VicePrex Council.

Article VI: Officers

Executive Staff

  • ExO (Chief Executive Officer): The ExO is the functioning leader of the organization. The ExO calls all general and special Executive Direx meetings, determines the meeting locations, and acts as the Chairperson. The ExO at their discretion and with the consultation of the Executive Direx Board, may form temporary consulting committees and/or appoint administrative staff to develop plans or projects; and other duties which may include but are not limited to drafting policies, organizing partnerships with external parties, and providing administrative assistance to the smooth running of the organization.
  • Prex (Presiding Officer): The Prex assists the ExO in the smooth running of the DroidBuilders. The Prex will act as the Chairperson for the VicePrex Council.
  • Auditor General: The AG is responsible for overseeing the management and reporting of an organization’s finances. They provide financial reports to both the Executive Direx Board and the organization's members.
  • Imperial Advisor: honorary non-elected position for Disney or LFL representative

Administrative Staff

  • Executive VicePrex of Legal: Interprets club rules and acts as a mediator for disputes brought forth from members.
  • Executive VicePrex of Media: Responsible for media relations, promoting DroidBuilders image to external organizations..
  • Executive VicePrex of Resources: Responsible for reviewing and processing of applications for membership. Develops the droid reference library (DRL). Supervises approval criteria are applied consistently across Sectors, Territories and Zones.
  • Executive VicePrex of OMM: (Operational Multisystem Management) manages the technology resources of the DroidBuilders.
  • Executive VicePrex of Charity: Serves as the primary point of contact with charitable organizations.
  • Executive VicePrex of Production: The VicePrex will record and monitor all merchandising and fund-raising done for DroidBuilders. They will be responsible for making sure that copyrights are not violated or that funds are not misused. They will maintain a list of vendors and suppliers who can produce various items.
