An [[R3-series astromech droid/Legends|R3-series astromech droid]], R3-T6 was in the service of the [[Galactic Empire/Legends|Galactic Empire]]<ref name="CCG" /> and tasked with calculating [[Hyperspace/Legends|hyperspace]] coordinates.<ref name="figure">{{HasbroCite|set=Star Wars: The Saga Collection|link=tscastros1.asp|pack=Astromech Droid Pack (Series 1)}}</ref> By as late as [[0 BBY/Legends|0 BBY]], the [[Astromech droid/Legends|astromech droid]] was stationed aboard the [[DS-1 Orbital Battle Station/Legends|first Death Star]] [[battlestation]], a [[Superweapon/Legends|superweapon]] capable of obliterating entire [[Planet/Legends|planets]]. During the [[Battle of Yavin/Legends|Battle of Yavin]], R3-T6 was roaming the corridors of the battlestation and was present when Imperial [[Lieutenant/Legends|Lieutenant]] [[Tanbris]] informed the [[Dark Lord of the Sith/Legends|Dark Lord]] [[Anakin Skywalker/Legends|Darth Vader]] that the [[Death Star/Legends|Death Star's]] [[Turbolaser/Legends|turbolasers]] were unable to track&mdash;and therefore destroy&mdash;the attacking [[Alliance to Restore the Republic/Legends|Rebel]] [[Starfighter/Legends|starfighters]].<ref name="ANH" />

Despite the deployment of [[TIE/LN starfighter|TIE Fighters]] to deal with the threat, one Rebel [[T-65 X-wing starfighter]], [[Pilot/Legends|piloted]] by [[Luke Skywalker/Legends|Luke Skywalker]], managed to launch a pair of [[Proton torpedo/Legends|proton torpedoes]] into the Death Star's [[Thermal exhaust port/Legends|thermal exhaust port]]. Like all R3-series astromech [[Droid/Legends|droids]], R3-T6 possessed an increased memory and superior circuitry compared to earlier models such as the [[R1-series astromech droid/Legends|R1]]<ref name="CCG" /> and [[R2-series astromech droid|R2 astromech droids]].<ref name="CSWE" /> These benefits gave R3-T6 increased efficiency in plotting hyperspace jumps.<ref name="CCG" /> R3-T6 boasted a transparent dome and a red-on-white color scheme on its body.<ref name="CSWE" />

R3-T6 first appeared as an unidentified droid extra aboard the Death Star in [[Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope|''Star Wars'': Episode IV ''A New Hope'']].
